MixTab – Privacy Policy
We respect your privacy. MixTab is designed to work entirely in your browser, without collecting personal data.
Last updated: November 2025
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how the MixTab browser extension (“MixTab”, “we”, “our”, “the extension”) handles data when you use it in your browser. MixTab is built with privacy in mind and is designed to function without collecting or transmitting personally identifiable information.
2. Data Collection
MixTab does not collect, store, sell, or share any personally identifiable information (PII).
Specifically, MixTab does not collect:
- Names, email addresses, accounts, or login details
- Payment or financial information
- Health-related information
- Personal messages, emails, or chat content
- Precise location data (GPS, IP-based tracking, etc.)
3. How MixTab works
MixTab’s sole purpose is to let you view and control audio from your open browser tabs. To provide this functionality, the extension:
- Reads the list of currently open tabs in your browser
- Checks whether a tab is producing audio (audible state)
- Applies volume changes and mute/unmute actions to audio and video elements in those tabs
- Optionally enforces a user-defined maximum volume (volume protection)
All of this processing happens locally in your browser. The data is used only to render the MixTab interface and to control audio in real time. It is not transmitted to any external server.
4. Permissions and local storage
MixTab uses the following browser permissions solely to provide its audio-control features:
- tabs – to read open tabs and determine which tabs are playing audio, so they can be shown and controlled in the MixTab interface.
- scripting – to inject small scripts into tabs that adjust the volume and mute state of audio and video elements on the page.
- storage – to save your local preferences such as per-tab volume levels, limiter settings, auto-scan options, and UI layout state (e.g. collapsed sections).
- host permissions (<all_urls>) – so MixTab can work on any site that may produce audio. The extension does not read or collect page content such as text, images, or videos.
Data stored via chrome.storage is kept
locally in your browser profile and is used only to
restore your settings and volumes. It is not uploaded or synced by
MixTab to any external service.
5. No tracking, analytics, or remote code
MixTab does not use:
- Third-party analytics or tracking scripts
- External script loading or remote code execution
- Advertising networks or tracking pixels
All JavaScript and logic used by MixTab is packaged directly inside the extension and runs entirely on your device.
6. Data sharing and third parties
MixTab does not share any user data with third parties, because it does not collect such data in the first place. There is no data selling, data brokering, or transfer of user information for advertising, analytics, or profiling.
7. Children’s privacy
MixTab is a utility extension intended for general use and does not target children specifically. As no personal data is collected, there is no profiling or data processing related to children.
8. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated in the future if MixTab’s functionality changes (for example, if new features are added that require different data handling). Any significant changes will be reflected in this document, and a new version will be published together with an updated extension release.
